Located on the bank of the river Mole, the Running Horse public house is one of the oldest buildings in Leatherhead. Built in the 15th century on land belonging to the church, The Running Horse was originally known as Rummings House, after the infamous Eleynor Rumminge, who was written about by King Henry VIII's poet John Skelton. This poem can be read on a wall in the pub. Historical documents state that King Henry VIII's daughter Queen Elizabeth I, spent a night at the Inn due to floods making the river Mole impossible to cross. It is rumoured that in the 17th century the pub was used as a frequent meeting place for smugglers. This Leatherhead pub has recently celebrated 600 years of providing hospitality.

From Leatherhead railway station: Cross the road at the traffic lights and walk through the recreation grounds to the traffic lights at the end of the walkway. Follow this road and just keep right. You will be in Bridge Street which is about a 10 minutes walk from the station.
By bus: There is a bus stop in Bridge Street.
By car: Follow the one-way system to Bridge Street and park at the pub.
