Macclesfield
Pub's own web site
Enjoy a traditional cask ale or a glass of fine wine with your meal in Macclesfields oldest pub, where history is all around you.

View the magnificent priest hole which dates back to 1525 during the reign of Queen Elizabeth 1, when Roman Catholic priest had to hide away to avoid persecution by the Monarchy. A century later, during the English Civil War, Oliver Cromwell was once believed to have slept here and may have watched the bear baiting and cockfighting that used to take place here in bygone days.

There have even been sightings of a ghost here!
